Salads from all corners of the world are the theme this month as we get together to share and sample foods we may never have had before. Prepare a salad you liked a lot on a trip abroad or maybe you have seen a salad in a magazine or cookbook you found interesting… Don't forget to bring the recipe for sharing also. Tee and water will be provided. Sign-up is requested.
Pick one of the games we have at the Center or bring your own favorite games to play right after our International Salads Luncheon. Everyone is invited to have a ton of fun!
Our most experienced Bingo Caller, Delores Rasmusson, is looking forward to bringing this fun activity to you again this year.
Parents, please make sure to put your children's names on our sign-up sheet and bring an item or two (toys, children's books, school supplies or other cool things) for the prize table.
Note that anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Award-winning quilter Dorothy Yeats is offering her special class to children this summer again. She will introduce them to working with fabrics using scraps, cardboard squares and hoops to make one of a kind wall hangings.
Children must be able to use scissors safely.
Please bring scissors that work well with fabric, pinking shears (if you have them), a glue stick and permanent markers. Class is limited to ten children, and registration is required.
This class will be taught by Cynthia Daly, a retired military officer and CPA. Ms. Daly began teaching Financial Education classes with the University of Virginia Cooperative Extension Program in 2008. She continued teaching in the Houston area since 2011 with financial reality fairs, workshops for women retreats, middle and high school students, college students and businesses. The C.A.N. Financial Literacy Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves as a vehicle to educate, empower, and encourage individuals to secure their family's financial future.
Use yarn and plastic canvas from our stash or bring your own, a pair of scissors, a blunt-tip plastic canvas or tapestry needle and join us for a fun afternoon of crafting. Sign-up is requested.
Visit BeeWeaver Apiary ($5.00) and Camp Hearne Exhibit and Visitors Center, a World War II Prison Camp Site (donation). Lunch on your own at Golden Corral. All trips are subject to change.
